This standard is mandatory for all state authorities and bodies, as well as for entrepreneurs, enterprises of all forms of ownership and types of activity, and also for public organizations in the Kyrgyz Republic. It establishes that certification of meat and meat products shall be compulsory. Meat and meat products are classified in two groups: (a) products with guaranteed shelf-life (storage, trade) up to 30 days, i.e. perishable products; and (b) products with more than 30 days of shelf-life (long shelf-life products). Selection of certification scheme depends upon the period of shelf-life. Meat and meat products should be identified before conducting certification tests specifying place of origin, organoleptic qualities and conformity of product to accompanying standardization normative documents.
