Abstract A Regulation to provide for various aspects of slaughtering of animals, the control of health of animals intended for slaughter, and the control on quality and hygiene of meat production, processing and sale. Section 3 states exemptions to provisions of this Regulation. The Minister may form an advisory committee under section 4. No person shall operate an abattoir unless the person holds an abattoir licence (which exists in different classes) issued by the Director under this Regulation (sect. 5). The Regulation also provides for protection of animals, inspection by veterinary officers, and sets out requirements for slaughterhouses.
