National reference laboratories shall be designated by the Ministry of Agriculture and published to the public. The main responsibilities of national reference laboratories shall include: (1) To undertake basic research and applied research on the prevention and control of animal epidemics in the country, and to solve major and key technical problems in the prevention and control of animal epidemics. (2) To study the techniques of diagnosis, prevention, control and extermination of animal epidemics. (3) To be responsible for making final diagnostic conclusions on prescribed animal epidemics and report the diagnostic conclusions to the Veterinary Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture.
