Abstract These Measures are enacted to prevent diseases of aquatic animals from spreading into China, protect the safety of fishery production, the health of human bodies and the ecological environment. These Measures consist of 6 Chapters divided into 27 articles: General provisions (I); Entry risk analysis and quarantine examination and approval (II); Pre-shipment quarantine sanitation requirements (III); Requirements on packing and transportation materials (IV); Entry Inspection and Quarantine (V); Supplementary Provisions (VI). The State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (SAQSIQ) shall uniformly supervise and administer the inspection and quarantine of inward aquatic animals nationwide. The aquatic animals exported to China must come from the breeding farms which shall be tested to have none of the relevant diseases required by the International Aquatic Animal Health Code.
