Subject Fisheries, Sea Keyword Navigation Fishing vessel Registration Geographical area Europe, Europe and Central Asia, European Union Countries, Northern Europe Abstract The First Part of this Law makes provision with respect to various legal relationships arising from navigation and the legal status of vessels in Lithuanian waters and Lithuanian vessels in other waters. Legal statutes of foreign states shall be applicable to the ships of said states within the territory of the Republic of Lithuania provided that said statutes do not contradict the requirements of the legal acts of the Republic of Lithuania. Chapter Two establishes requirements regarding Lithuanian vessels. The right to sail under the state flag of Lithuania shall be granted to ships which are entered in the Register of Ships of the Republic of Lithuania or in the ship book (art. 7). Article 8 provides for the registration of vessels, whereas article 9 specifies the papers a Lithuanian hip must possess. Provisions of Chapter 6 deal with the chartering and leasing of a ship.
