The Code, which shall have force of law in Fiji, details the standards and requirements relating to commercial ships of 15 metres or less in registered length. Prior to proceeding to sea, the master of a ship shall ensure that the intended voyage has been planned using relevant current nautical charts and a current nautical almanac. The voyage plan shall include marine environmental protection requirements that apply, and shall avoid, as far as possible, actions and activities which could cause damage to the marine environment.
