It provides rules for composition and appointment of members and determines the powers and duties of the Board. Notably, the Board shall plan and conduct marketing, educational, and promotional campaigns and programs for Virginia marine products; carry on research and testing programs; and conduct activities relating to the catching, processing, conservation, and marketing of Virginia marine products. It may also investigate, study, and formulate recommendations regarding regulation, conservation, and management of marine resources of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Chapter also establishes a special nonreverting fund known as the Virginia Marine Products Fund. Moneys in the Fund must be used solely for the purposes set forth in this Chapter.
