Abstract

The present Ordinance is made under the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL), the International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-Fouling Systems On Ships (AFS) and the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments, 2004 (BMW). In particular, the Ordinance lays down provisions relating to environmentally sound behaviour in maritime navigation. The text consists of 26 articles divided into 6 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Supplementary provisions relating to the Annexes of the Marpol Convention (2); Supplementary provisions relating to the AFS Convention (3); Supplementary provisions relating to the Ballast Water Convention (4); Penalties (5); Final provisions (6).
