Produce must be inspected, branded and an export permit must be obtained for such produce before exportation. The President may appoint inspectors of produce for the purposes of this Act. Inspectors shall examine or grade or both examine and grade produce intended for export and shall have such other powers and duties as may be prescribed. The Minister may also appoint assessors of produce and may constitute panels of such persons for different kinds of produce. The Minister may prescribe by Regulation, among other things: the designations under which various kinds and grades of produce may be exported; quality standards; rules for labelling and packing; and modes of cropping, treating, processing, curing, preserving, storing, transporting and shipping.
