Abstract This Act provides for regulating in the public interest the trade of certain minor forestry products by creating a State monopoly in such trade in the State of Maharashtra. It applies in respect of the minor forest produce specified in the Schedule (excluding timber, trees and charcoal, but including bamboos). It establishes that: a grower of any minor forest produce may transport such produce belonging to him from any place within the unit wherein such produce has grown, to any other place in that unit; and a minor forest produce purchased from the State Government by any person for manufacture of finished goods using such produce within the State or for sale outside the State may be transported by such person outside the unit in accordance with the terms and conditions of a permit to be issued in that behalf by such authority and in such manner as may be prescribed.
