Abstract

A piece of basic legislation in the field of waste management in the Land of Lower Austria. Aims and principles of the present Act are: (1) to organize waste management in Lower Austria complying with the principles of the protection of the environment in the light of waste prevention and sustainability; (2) to reduce quantities of waste and their harmful substances; to recycle waste if possible at reasonable cost; not recyclable waste is subject to treatment and storage; (3) to collect, store, transport and treat waste, if it is of public interest.
