This Legislative Decree enters into force 4 months after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Abstract

This Legislative Decree aims at protecting animals against diseases by regulating veterinary quarantine. The present Decree is composed of 19 articles. Article 1 deals with terms and definitions. Articles 2 and 3 specify the competencies and duties of the Veterinary Authority. Article 4 prohibits the entry of animals and animal products in Bahrain unless through the authorized crossing points. Article 5 specifies the documents and certificates to be provided with animal consignments. Article 7 specifies the measures to be taken for equines. Article 8 defines the measures to be taken for animals and animal products coming from infected countries. Articles 10 and 11 refer to the compensation for destroyed infected animals. Article 12 imposes a previous authorization for the importation of vaccinations. Articles 13-15 refer to the measures to be taken in case of the appearance of a disease on board of transportation means. Article 16 defines the measures to be taken in case of animals in transit.
