Abstract This Legislative Decree aims at regulating fishing. The Legislative Decree is composed of 19 articles. Article 1 deals with terms and definitions. Article 2 imposes the registration of fishing vessels at the Fisheries Department. Article 3 prohibits fishing without a licence. Article 4 defines requirements and conditions for the issuance of licences. Articles 5-12 deal with the following: licence’s register; application; validity of licences; and renewal and revocation of licences. Article 14 prohibits the use of explosives and poison in fishing. Article 15 entrusts the Minister of Trade and Agriculture to define the following: fishing areas; fishing gear and methods; allowed fish size; inspection rules; and vessel marking. Article 17 pertains to offences and penalties.
