Abstract The aim of this Legislative Decree is to regulate the construction of agricultural drainage canals. This Legislative Decree is composed of 12 articles. Article 1 deals with terms and definitions. Article 2 entrusts the Ministry of Trade and Agriculture to designate agricultural zones where it is necessary to create drainage canals. Article 3 empowers the Projects Department with the survey of agricultural lands in order to prepare maps for drainage canals. Article 4 decrees that, from the date of entry into force of this Legislative Decree, the construction of main drainage canals should be carried out by a resolution of the Minister of Trade and Agriculture. The State shall sustain all operation costs of main drainage canals (art. 5). Cleaning and disinfestation of drainage canals shall be carried out at the expense of beneficiaries of drainage canals (art. 6). Article 9 contains offences and penalties.
