Abstract The aim of this Legislative Decree is to regulate the importation of foodstuffs in order to protect public health. This Legislative Decree is composed of 14 articles. Article 1 deals with terms and definitions. Article 2 allows the importation of foodstuffs through Bahraini ports only in accordance with Bahraini commercial regulations and rules. Article 3 specifies the foodstuffs prohibited from importation into Bahrain. Articles 4-6 define characteristics, requirements and conditions for rotten, decayed, adulterated and harmful foodstuffs. Articles 8 and 9 make provision for the inspection on foodstuffs and analysis of samples.
