This Legislative Decree enters into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Abstract

The aim of this Legislative Decree is to regulate the importation of foodstuffs in order to protect public health. This Legislative Decree is composed of 14 articles. Article 1 deals with terms and definitions. Article 2 allows the importation of foodstuffs through Bahraini ports only in accordance with Bahraini commercial regulations and rules. Article 3 specifies the foodstuffs prohibited from importation into Bahrain. Articles 4-6 define characteristics, requirements and conditions for rotten, decayed, adulterated and harmful foodstuffs. Articles 8 and 9 make provision for the inspection on foodstuffs and analysis of samples. Article 10 specifies measures and procedures to be taken in case foodstuffs do not comply with the sanitary requirements.
