Abstract The purpose of this Decree is to protect palms. This Decree is composed of 7 articles. Article 1 prohibits cutting and uprooting palms before obtaining an authorization from the Ministry of Commerce and Agriculture. Article 3 entrusts the Ministry of Commerce and Agriculture to issue resolutions for regulating the following matters: (a) number of palms to be cultivated in one Dunum (2,500 square metres); (b) incentive systems for farmers to cultivate palms; (c) importation and exportation of palms; (d) palm marketing operations; and (e) cultivation of palms in private and public gardens and parks. Article 4 contains offences and penalties. Article 5 entrust the employees and officers of the Ministry of Commerce and Agriculture to inspect and control palms.
