It aims at preventing pollution of undergroundwaters and prohibits the discharge of hazardous substances listed in Annexes I and II. A special authorization is required for the disposal and storage of said substances. The authorization shall specify on the following: (1) sites in which the operations to be authorized should be carried out; (2) precautionary measures to be adopted, with respect to the characteristics of the substances and the environment, and the potential pollution of a source of water supply (in particular, drinking, spring and mineral waters); (3) the maximum tolerable quantity of such substances; (4) equipment and appropriate measures for the testing and monitoring of groundwater quality.
