This Legislative Decree enters into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Abstract

The purpose of this Resolution is to regulate the use and trade of pearls and precious stones. This Legislative Decree is composed of 13 articles. Article 1 deals with terms and definitions. Article 2 specifies the procedures and requirements for the sale of pearls and precious stones. Article 3 entrusts the Ministry of Commerce and Agriculture to control the production and trade of pearls and precious stones. Article 4 prescribes that imported pearls and precious stones be subjected to chemical analysis. Article 5 prohibits the trade in cultured pearls. Article 6 specifies the requirements and conditions for pearl and precious stone exhibitions. Articles 9-11 pertain to liability of the aforementioned activity as well as offences and penalties.
