Abstract The present Law lays down provisions relating to water works, the water police and the use of waters, as well as and the enforcement of federal legislation. Furthermore, the Law shall ensure the protection of human beings, animals and appurtenances of value against damages resulting from water, to conserve the waters in a natural way or to arrange them in a natural way and to use them sensibly. Moreover, the present Law allocates the related powers concerning waterworks between the Canton, the municipalities and private parties.
