This Law enters into force on 9 January 2002.
Abstract

This Law contains rules regarding production, purchasing and sales of tobacco and tobacco products. Tobacco trading is based on open auction and/or on contract. Contract price shall be determined together with the producers and/or tobacco traders. Companies and individuals are allowed to establish production/sales network of cigarette and other tobacco products provided that the annual capacity of a production plant shall be more than 2 billion cigarettes and more than 15 tons of other tobacco products in single shift. Production facilities must operate in advanced, modern technology. Producing companies meeting above conditions are also allowed to import cigarette and other tobacco products. Companies should obtain a licence from the board for sales of their products. The Government is authorized to determine the rules and procedures of making any kind of direct and/or indirect agricultural supports. Administrative and penal measures for those who would violate the provisions of the Law are given in details.
