Abstract The present Law determines legal and organizational basis for carrying out state seismological expertise and is aimed at the prevention of negative impact of the possible manifestations of dangerous natural geological and combined natural and man-made processes human life and health, and also upon environment. State seismological expertise is compulsory form of assessment of the compliance of architectural, urban land use planning and construction activity with the requirements of state standards of seismic safety (art. 1). The purpose of state seismological expertise is the reduction of the possible impact of the manifestations of dangerous natural, geological and combined natural and man-made processes (art. 3). State seismological expertise shall be carried out by the authorized institution that shall ensure carrying out state seismological expertise, monitoring, research, zoning and valuation of unsafe areas form the seismic point of view (art. 6).
