Abstract

The Law shall establish the basic objectives and principles of national standardization. This includes the procedure for the drafting and application of Lithuanian standards, the relation between the standards and technical regulations, basic provisions for the establishment of the Lithuanian Standards Association and its activities, and financing sources of national standardization. National standardization aims to protect the health and life of human beings and animals, the environment, goods, and consumers' interests. The Lithuanian standard shall be the standard adopted by the National Standards Body (art. 5). The National Standards Body shall establish the procedure for the application in the Republic of Lithuania of the standards and other publications of international, European and other regional standards organizations as well as standards of the foreign states (art. 7).
