This Law enters into force on the eighth day from the day of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Abstract

This Law regulates the creation of equal opportunities to exercise rights and obligations, the undertaking of special measures to prevent and eliminate discrimination based on sex and gender, and the procedure for legal protection of persons exposed to discrimination. Gender equality implies the equal participation of women and men in all areas of the public and private sector, in accordance with the generally accepted rules of international law, confirmed international treaties, the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia (hereinafter: the Constitution) and laws, and everyone is obliged to respect it. Gender equality is guaranteed, in accordance with generally accepted rules. Public authorities develop an active policy of equal opportunities in all areas of social life, implying the equal participation of the sexes in all stages of planning, making and implementing decisions that affect the position of women and men.
