Abstract This Law regulates turnover of hunting firearms, including hunting gear for underwater hunting, certified in the Republic of Latvia. Its purpose shall be to establish the rights and the duties of natural and legal persons regarding management of firearms, parts thereof and ammunition, classification of firearms for security reasons. The Act consists of 11 Sections divided into 51 Articles: (1) general provisions; (2) classification of firearms; (3) authorization; (4) purchase, registration, storage and bearing of firearms; (5) the use of firearms; (6) firearms in possession of foreigners; (7) firearms collections; (8) trade of firearms; (9) shooting-range and shooting competition; (10) import and export of firearms; and (11) supervision over turnover of firearms and ammunition.
