Abstract

This Law regulates relations in the sphere of environmental audit and is aimed at prevention of negative impact of the projected economic and other activities on environment and human health. Environmental audit shall be based upon the following principles: (a) assumption of potential ecological risks of any projected economic and other activities; (b) mandatory preventive state environmental audit; (c) mandatory environmental impact assessment; (d) complex assessment of impact on environment and human health; (e) objectivity of the conclusions of environmental audit; and (f) transparency and consideration of public opinion. In Turkmenistan shall be performed two types of environmental audit: state environmental audit and public hearing on environmental audit. Objects of projected economic and other activities shall not be authorized for putting in operation without prior positive conclusion of state environmental audit.
