This Law enters into force eight days after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Abstract

This Law hereby sets the basic energy sector principles and defines: all energy activities and conditions and manner for their correct performance, for the purpose of quality and safe supply of end-users with energy on the territory of the Republic of Montenegro; public services and other activities in the field of energy that are considered as important; organization and functioning of the electricity and gas market; method and conditions for the use of renewable energy sources and cogeneration; aims for the effective implementation of the energy efficiency in the production-distribution sector; specific and other related/administrative rules to be observed during the production, transmission and distribution of energy (rules that will not apply to activities related to the research and exploitation of coal, oil and gas, development, production or refinement of crude oil or gas, as well as energy efficiency in final energy consumption).
