Abstract

The purpose of this law is to protect consumers’ interests in the market and to define rules and establish relevant institutions to protect consumer rights. It is composed of the following sections: Part I - General Provisions laying down definitions and stipulations on basic consumer rights; Part II- Consumer Safety dealing with general safety requirements and producer liability; Part III- Consumer Information regulating general obligation to inform, labelling, price indication, and wrapping of goods; Part IV- Marketing Practices regulation unfair commercial practices and advertising; Part V- Unfair Contract Terms and Consistency of Contract regulating unfair terms in consumer contracts and contractual compliance; Part VI- Particular Selling and Supplying Form regulating contracts entered into outside the business premises and obligations in this regard, distance contracts and resulting obligations; Part VII- Particular Contracts laying down rules and regulations regarding sale of energy, water and telecommunication services, timely limited contracts for the use of product of long term vacation, resale, and swopping, consumer credit agreements, travel package contracts and related obligations; Part VIII- Consumer Protection Institutions including state bodies, enforcement bodies, and non-profit organizations; Part IX- Administrative Offences on offences and penalties; and Part X- Temporary and Last Provisions.
