This Law enters into force on the day of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Abstract

This Law prescribes the rules aimed at regulating the use and monitoring of storages or deposits of carbon dioxide in a suitable geological formation in the Earth's interior, here as regards the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. The storage of carbon dioxide in geological formations shall be carried out with the purpose of preventing, reducing or limiting its harmful effect on the environment and human health. Chapter Two lists the regulations on carbon dioxide conservation activities; in Chapter Three, for issues on exploration permission see Section II of the text; Section III sets out rules regarding the necessary permits; grant of exploration permits and storage permits is defined in Section IV; procedure for granting of authorizations for the storage of carbon dioxide are listed in Section V; Chapter Four is about obligations on operation, closure and period after closing of the carbon dioxide storage place (measures in case of leaks or significant irregularities are listed in Section V of the Chapter Four);
