Hunting and fishing are not included in the application scope. As a general rule, cruelty on animals is prohibited (art. 4). Title I contains general provisions, concerning inter alia transport, imnportation and exportation of animals and related authorizations. Title II lays down health rules and establishes a system for preventing the spread of animal diseases. Article 15 specifies the circumstances under which animals may be used for experimentation. Title III deals with domestic animals, whilst Title IV is devoted to wild animals. Title V regards inspection and checks. Title VI lays down the penalties to be applied in case of infringement.
