This Law enters into force on the eighth day from the day of publication in the "Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina".
Abstract

This Law sets general rules regarding the agriculture, nutrition and rural development on the territoory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The objectives of this Law are to determine: a) framework for institutional structures, competences, responsibilities, reporting lines, regulations, coordination mechanisms, consultation processes, rights, obligations and implementation of measures at all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) that are involved in the development of the agriculture sector , nutrition and rural development; b) the framework and mechanisms for strengthening the competitiveness, quality of agricultural and food products, and the application of standards that are necessary for achieving more dynamic development in the sector of agriculture, nutrition and rural development; c) the framework and mechanisms that are necessary for the preparation of joining and entering the European Union (hereinafter: EU) and fulfill all obligations determined by international agreements in relation to the sector of agriculture, food and rural development in BiH; d) the framework for ensuring the alignment of sector strategies and agro-economic policies, special measures for implementation and procedures for implementation that are necessary for the coordinated development of the agriculture, food and rural development sectors of BiH; e) outline goals of the agriculture, food and rural development sector and defines the outline measures needed for their achievement. This Law further establishes the definitions of the terms to be used in the sectoral regulations, goals, principles, mechanisms of policy development in the agriculture, food and rural development sector, structures and competencies at all levels of government, structures and services of institutional support, their functions and connections, mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation (monitoring and evaluation), and administrative and inspection supervision. The sector of agriculture, nutrition and rural development includes: a) agriculture and nutrition (primary production, processing and distribution of agricultural and food products); b) rural development; c) forestry and forestry products (in the field of EU integration); d) fisheries and fish products; e) water management (in the sector of agriculture and rural development); f) agricultural machinery, equipment and facilities; g) agricultural land; h) agro-environment; i) trade in agricultural and food products (domestic and foreign); j) veterinary medicine and animal health (live stock); k) health and protection of plants.
