Abstract

This law determines the legal status of an internally displaced person ('IDP'), the basis and the procedure for granting, terminating, withdrawing and restoring the IDP status, and the legal, economic and social guarantees, and the rights and duties of an IDP. The purpose of this Law is to establish legal mechanisms which: (a) ensure the protection of the rights of an IDP during the period of being an IDP; (b) facilitate the integration of an IDP at the place of his/her registration; and (c) facilitate the solution of problems of an IDP. Among others, the law provides for the social protection of the IDPs and providing them with a place of residence.
