Abstract

This Law, consisting of 18 articles divided in VI Sections, aims at establishing a National Fund with the purpose of: controlling agricultural risk including drought, desert encroachment, floods, conflicts and fires; encouraging interest in agriculture and agricultural production; stabilizing and developing agricultural areas and communities; supporting and encouraging the insurance companies to work in the agricultural field; achieving stability in the sector through funding and compensations to farmers and producers in case of losses; developing agricultural sector through the use of modern technology. Competencies of the Fund are: provide the necessary resources; define principles and standards to attract resources; develop agricultural insurance umbrella and encourage insurance companies to enter the agricultural sector; promote scientific studies on effects of agricultural risks.
