Abstract

This Law consisting of 18 articles aims at establishing a new Authority, the Litani National Authority (LRA). It is a public establishment under the Ministry of Energy and Water to manage water resources (surface and groundwater resources) over the whole Lebanese territory (not only the Litani River). It is mainly responsible for preliminary studies and the construction of dams and the exploitation of hydroelectric power pants. Its duties and competencies are: the execution of all the parts of the Litani project from technical point of view (irrigation, drainage, potable water, electricity production) as from financial aspects; the installation of a network for the electricity plants in Lebanon; the erection of transformation stations, transmission and distribution lines in the whole Lebanese regions; the big works of irrigation and their exploitation.
