Abstract This Law consisting of 22 articles aims at ensuring the health and safety of the consumers and protection of the environment by making sure that goods, products and services comply with technical regulations. It establishes that the competent authority is the only authorized reference for standardization and quality control of production, the development of national standards, and the issuance of national technical regulations, through the following main tasks (i) adopt a national system of standards and specifications in accordance with international practices; (ii) ensure the quality of goods in accordance with the standard specifications; and (iii) raise the production efficiency, improve the quality of national products, and identify standard means of work and production to achieve economic growth.
