Abstract This Law regulates prophylaxis for iodine deficiency diseases and mandates state control over the quality and safety of iodized salt and foodstuffs, the terms and conditions of their storage, and state support for their manufacture. The National Standardization, Metrology and Certification Agency shall be the state institution responsible for standardizing the manufacturing and processing of iodinated salt and foodstuffs. Mass prophylaxis for iodine deficiency diseases shall be achieved through the consumption of iodinated salt and foodstuffs. Alimentary salt manufactured and traded domestically shall be subject to mandatory iodination and shall comply with state standards, rules and regulations.
