Abstract This Law regulates relations in the sphere of electric energy, including generation, transmission and distribution of electric energy. The main directions of state policy in the sphere of electric energy shall be: (a) ensuring electric energy safety; (b) ensuring safe and reliable functioning of common electric energy system; (c) ensuring equal access of all the consumers to territorial electric main lines; (d) ensuring balanced development of electric energy sector; and (e) rational use of electric energy. The Act consists of 8 Sections divided into 35 Articles: (1) general provisions; (2) state regulation in the sphere of electric energy; (3) electric energy generation; (4) transmission of electric energy; (5) distribution and trade of electric energy; (6) operational dispatch management; (7) consumption of electric energy; and (8) conclusive provisions. State regulation in the sphere of electric energy shall be carried out by the Cabinet of Ministers, authorized state institution, supervisory authority and local self-government. Thermal electric power stations and combined heat and power plants using renewable energy sources can pertain to public or private ownership while hydroelectric power stations can be owned exclusively by the state.
