Abstract The scope of this Law is to create pre-conditions for persons to register existing and registered fresh groundwater abstraction wells by entering well owner data in the register and obtain permit for the use of fresh groundwater resources. The person wishing to register the right of ownership to fresh groundwater abstraction well must submit application to the municipal executive body. The municipal executive does not approve the use of a well only if the well is located in a public water supply area where a drinking water supply infrastructure is or is being installed in accordance with the Article 16 (13) of Drinking Water Supply and Wastewater Management Act of the Republic of Lithuania.
