The boundaries of the port land and water area ad ministered by the Palanga Municipal Council are determined by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. Purpose of the port: (a) accept recreational, small and sports boats; (b) receive fishing vessels; (c) accept small sea cruises and passenger boarding ships; (d) accept vessels of the State Border Guard Service of the Republic of Lithuania, specialized in rescue operations, spilled oil collection, fire prevention and marine environment protection, shipping and fishing control; and (e) primary processing of fish and trade promotion. Companies using port services must sign a contract with a municipal company managing seaport harbour services. The port is open to international and domestic shipping.
