Abstract This Law regulates supply and certification seeds and planting material of agricultural crops, fruit and vegetable species, and decorative plants, and also import of the planting material for the propagation of the aforesaid species. The Act consists of six Chapters divided into 11 Articles: (1) general provisions; (2) the list of plant varieties; (3) certification of the propagation material; (4) market supply of the propagation material; (5) import of the propagation material from outside EU; and (6) conclusive provisions. The list of plant varieties shall be elaborated and kept by the state plant variety testing centre. Plant variety shall be recorded in the List of plant varieties in the following cases: (a) if it is established after testing that a plant variety is distinguished, homogeneous and stable; (b) it has been given appellation; (c) has high economic value; (d) the State commission on plant variety evaluation has recommended to include it into the List of plant varieties. Certification of the propagation material shall be compulsory. Labels of GMO plant propagation material must bear inscription GMO. Plant propagation material imported from outside EU must be packed, labelled and accompanied by quality certificate of the country of origin. Full text Russian Website www3.lrs.lt
