Abstract This Law, consisting of 5 articles, creates the State Programme to promote aquaculture and agro-industry activity within the State of Paraíba. This Programme aims at: repopulating fish species in water dams, in particular commercial fish species; incentivising, through technical and financial assistance, rural producers to aquaculture activity; developing cooperatives for a correct fish product handling, conservation, refrigeration, commercialization and exportation. Developing agro-industry linked to fishing activity, supported by canned production and other fish conservation techniques (including fish wheal); developing aquaculture nursery methods in water dams and rivers; developing rice-fish systems within the State.
