Abstract This Law, consisting of 15 Chapters, provides for the State Unified Care System for Agricultural and Animal Health (SUASA). It establishes responsibilities and duties such as: controlling violations and implementing agricultural defense and establishing the procedure for calculation of fines. SUASA aims at promoting the health of animals and plant, through monitoring and health protection actions. Health promotion, actions of surveillance and animals, plants and products and agricultural by-products health protection, is organized under the coordination of the State Government in SUASA, articulated, as is National Health System, and for the interest of consumers. The objectives of the SUASA are: the health of livestock; the health of plant populations; the adequacy of inputs and services used in agriculture; the identity and hygienic-sanitary safety and technology of agricultural products destined to consumption.
