This Law enters into force on the date of its publication.
Abstract

This Law, composed of 26 articles, regulates solid waste management in Rio Grande do Sul State. The aim is to grant their optimal recycle and to improve municipalities and citizens in the management and disposal process. Waste management system shall be implemented through plans and dedicated projects dealing with collection, transport, treatment, processing and disposal; moreover, they shall be licensed by the Environmental State Authority. Particular attention is paid to solid items used for packaging of dangerous substances, and to the introduction of incinerators for solid waste. Finally, the Law provides applicable penalties.
