Abstract This Law, consisting of 14 articles, reformulates the Payment Programme for Environmental Services (PES). The Programme is directed to the rural landowner and/or other facilitators in the promotion of environmental services that allocate part of their property for the purpose of preservation, conservation and recovery of the environment and water resources and comply with the requirements of this Law. The PES, coordinated by the State Secretariat for the Environment and Water Resources (SEAMA), aims to contribute to the conservation and recovery of services provided by nature, called environmental support services, provision and regulation of water, environment and ecosystems.
