The Law is composed of 26 articles, divided into the following Chapters: (I) General provisions; (II) Protection of transboundary lakes; (III) Use and exploitation; (IV) Environmental permit; (V) Monitoring and management; (VI) Controlling; (VII) Sanctions. Lake administrations shall be set up for the management and protection of transboundary lakes, as provided in article 8. Article 14 lists out those activities which shall not be carried out in transboundary lakes and their watersheds, such as dumping of waste and hazardous substances.
