Abstract

This Law proclaims the accession of the Republic of Albania to the "Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora” (CITES). The Annex I here contains all endangered species that are or may be affected by trade. The trade of specimens of these species should be the subject to strict special regulation, with the aim of stopping the further endangerment of their life and should be allowed only in special cases. Annex II contains: a) all species that are not at risk of extinction at the moment, but that may become so such, regardless of the fact that the trade of specimens of these species is subject to the strict rules, with the aim of avoiding exploitation that endangers their existence; b) other species that may be subject to rules, with the aim that trade on such specimens can be done with an effective control. Annex III shall contain all species that either Party designates as the subject of a regulation within its jurisdiction, with the aim of preventing or limiting utilization and, if necessary, cooperation with other Parties in the control of related trade. The parties must not allow the trade of specimens of the species included in the Annexes I, II and III, except in accordance with the terms of the adopted Convention.
