Abstract

This Law aims to create Regional Ecotourism Programmes (PRE). Ecotourism aims to ensure sustainability objectives, such as: a) preservation of characteristic landscapes; b) conservation of biodiversity and basic natural ecosystems; c) integration and promotion of close relations with local populations and their own culture; d) articulation with other local economic sectors and sustainable activities; e) efficiency in water use, energy and waste production. PREs should be developed for the level II geographical areas of the nomenclature of territorial units for statistical purposes (NUTS II). PREs should be developed by Regional Tourism Entities (ERT). In order to prepare the PREs, the ERTs should set up specific working groups. The ERTs are responsible for preparing and making public an annual monitoring and monitoring report on the implementation of PREs, and for evaluating the evolution of ecotourism supply in the various regions. PREs should be prepared by the end of 2020.
