Abstract The present Law regulates activity in the field of veterinary medicine in accordance with international requirements, establishes legal basis of the structure of veterinary medicine, veterinary and sanitary requirements and veterinary and sanitary supervision. The main tasks of the veterinary medicine are: 1) protection against animal disease by carrying out preventive anti-epizootic, sanitary and other veterinary arrangements aimed at ensuring animal reproduction and raising animal productivity; 2) veterinary treatment of sick animals; 3) protection of the population against disease common to humans and animals; 4) inspection and ensuring quality control of foodstuffs of animal origin; 5) protection of the national territory against introduction of infectious animal disease from abroad; 6) contribution to protection against environmental pollution. The Act consists of 7 Sections composed of 23 articles. Section 1 (arts. 1-6) lays down general provisions. Section 2 (arts. 7-10) regards state veterinary service. Section 3 (arts. 11-12) regards departmental veterinary medicine. Section 4 (arts. 13-15) regards individual veterinary service. Section 5 (arts. 16-19) regards veterinary and sanitary requirements for the prevention of infectious disease. Section 6 (arts. 20-22) regards carrying out veterinary survey. Section 7 (art. 23) establishes liability for the infringement of the legislation on veterinary medicine.
