Abstract This Law, consisting of 38 articles divided into six Chapters, provides for the production and marketing of artisanal dairy products within the State of Alagoas. The conditions for the recognition of the rural milk-producing establishment for the production of dairy products, such as artisanal cheeses and butter, are aimed at ensuring the quality and safety of the products: I - for the production of artisanal dairy products from raw milk, the property must be certified as free from brucellosis and tuberculosis in accordance with the provisions of the National Programme for the Control of Brucellosis and Animal Tuberculosis Eradication (PNCEBT), or controlled for brucellosis and tuberculosis by the State Animal Health Protection Agency, within up to 3 years; II - perform good agricultural and milking practices, such as: mastitis control, with exams to detect clinical mastitis, farm's milk; control and monitor water quality, etc. III - comply with other hygienic-sanitary measures, under the terms of the relevant guidelines and standards.
