Abstract This Law is composed of 23 articles. Article 1 gives terms and definitions. Article 2 decrees the ban on the cultivation, manufacturing and reproduction of all types of tobacco in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Article 3 prohibits the importation and introduction of all types of tobacco as well as automatic distributors of tobacco in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Article 4 decrees no smoking areas all public utilities and services, means of transportation, ports and airports, ministries, schools, universities, institutions, mosques, industries, markets, shops, cooperatives, clubs, restaurants, hotels, cinemas, barber shops, lifts, banks and the like. Article 5 prohibits the sale of tobacco and cigarettes to adolescents and to underage. Articles 6 to 8 prohibit advertising, promotion and sponsorship of tobacco. Article 11 decrees the ban on the importation of any type of herbs or herbal-stuffs to be used as alternative for tobacco. Articles 16 and 17 decree the establishment of the National Committee for Fighting Smoking and Tobacco Products and define its competencies. Article 20 contains offences and penalties.
