This Law enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Law, consisting of 46 articles divided into six Chapters, provides for the prevention and control of regulated pests in the State of Piauí. The Agricultural and Livestock Agency of the State of Piauí - ADAPI is responsible to comply with this Law and may request support from the SEFAZ State Secretariat of Finance, through its collection and inspection units, as well as the Civil Judicial Police, Military Police and State Public Prosecutor. Individuals or legal entities operating with plants and plant products, hosts of regulated pests, are obliged to register their establishments with ADAPI. Prevention and control will be implemented through: phytosanitary education; adoption of phytosanitary measures for the control of regulated pest; adoption of precautionary measures; control of transit of regulated article; pest survey; other necessary prevention and control measures to the Plant Health. The Law is divided as follows: Preliminary Provisions (Chap. I); Prevention and Control of Pests (Chap. II); Inspection and Supervision (Chap. III); Infringements and Penalties (Chap. IV); Fees (Chap. V); Final Dispositions (Chap. VI).
